Elderly woman found dead near American Academy in Larnaca

The body of an elderly woman was found on Monday afternoon in an apartment near the American Academy in Larnaca, following a response from police and the Fire Service.

The apartment was forced open by the Fire Service before officers carried out the necessary examinations at the scene. Investigations are under way to identify the woman and establish the circumstances of her death, a process authorities say is expected to take time.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
