Cyprus weekend weather forecast: sunny with mountain showers Friday to Monday

Friday sees a mostly sunny start to the weekend across Cyprus, though some patchy cloud and the chance of isolated showers in the mountains are expected through the afternoon.

Early cloud will clear quickly on Friday morning, giving way to largely clear skies across most of the island. Cloud building over the mountains from midday onwards may bring isolated showers to higher ground.

Winds will be mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at force three to four, strengthening temporarily to moderate to fresh, force four to five, along windward coasts in the afternoon.

Seas will be generally smooth to slight, with periods of slight chop along windward coasts in the afternoon.

Temperatures will reach around 31°C inland, around 28°C on the southern and eastern coasts, around 26°C on the western and northern coasts, and around 23°C at the highest mountain elevations.

Saturday will again be mostly sunny across the island, with passing spells of cloud. Showers are expected to develop over the mountains and inland during the afternoon, with an isolated thunderstorm possible.

Sunday and Monday will continue in much the same vein, with mainly clear skies and passing cloud. Isolated afternoon showers remain possible over the mountains on both days.

Temperatures on Saturday will hold near seasonal norms. A rise is expected on Sunday, continuing into Monday, when readings are forecast to climb above the seasonal average.
