Around 20 shots fired at Zakaki offices in motorcycle drive-by

Two suspects on a motorcycle fired an estimated 20 shots at a company’s offices in Limassol’s Zakaki area at around 4:20 am on Wednesday, the head of Limassol CID said, as investigators examine CCTV footage they say captured the perpetrators’ movements.

Kostas Michail said police were notified at around 8:00 am of a possible shooting at offices in a multi-storey building in Zakaki. Officers attended the scene and confirmed that the offices of a specific company had been hit by a number of shots, with the main damage being broken glass surfaces on the office balcony. Limassol CID members are conducting examinations, taking statements and collecting evidence.

According to initial information, the company operates in the IT and back-office services sector.

During the investigation, Michail said, information was received that the company may have been targeted in a previous criminal incident approximately two weeks ago.

He stressed, however, that police are still at a very early stage of the investigation and all possibilities remain open. Witness statements are also being assessed.

Asked whether a connection existed between this incident and past attacks on similar companies, Michail said no such connection was apparent so far. He described the incident as concerning and said all necessary measures were being taken both to prevent and to solve similar cases.
