President Nikos Christodoulides has welcomed Moody’s reaffirmation of Cyprus’s credit rating, calling it a significant development with clear political and economic importance for the country.
Christodoulides said that at a time when the global economy faces uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and persistent pressures, Cyprus is assessed as an economy with credibility, resilience, and prospects.
He said Moody’s explicit recognition of the country’s strong institutional governance and effective policymaking acknowledges an economic strategy that is delivering results in practice.
The President said his government had made fiscal responsibility, stability, debt reduction, and strengthening growth potential its priorities from day one, adding that the results confirm the course is correct and internationally recognised.
He said the rating reaffirmation strengthens the Republic’s credibility, supports market and investor confidence, shields the economy against external risks, and creates greater capacity for targeted social policy in support of the middle class, households, workers, young people, and businesses.
“We continue with the same seriousness, with a concrete plan and a clear direction,” Christodoulides said, adding that the government’s aim is to safeguard what has been achieved, further strengthen economic resilience, and translate every positive result into greater security, more opportunities, and better prospects for citizens and society.
