Police are investigating two non-EU nationals, aged 32 and 38, for terrorism and participation in a criminal organisation following their arrest under judicial warrants, police spokesperson Vyronas Vyronos said.
Cyprus is investigating the case alongside other competent state agencies and international bodies to fulfil its international obligations, Vyronos added.
The Larnaca District Court remanded the two men in custody for eight days on Friday to facilitate police enquiries.
Investigators are continuing their work and have seized various pieces of evidence found with the suspects, including items that people can use to make explosives.
Police are currently focusing their investigation on the Larnaca district, the spokesperson said.
Responding to a question, Vyronos said police remain on high alert, evaluate and analyse all information, and take action.
