Police have arrested two men on terrorism-related suspicions after explosive materials were found at properties in Larnaca, philenews sources said.
The two suspects, aged 32 and 38, are Palestinians. Officers arrested them under court warrants following the collection and assessment of intelligence. Searches were subsequently carried out under court warrants at two properties used by the 32-year-old in Larnaca district, where various items of evidence were seized, including objects that can be used to manufacture explosives and whose possession is prohibited.
According to philenews sources, police are investigating a serious terrorism case. The mixture of explosive material found at the properties was intended for the construction of explosive devices.
Both suspects were brought before Larnaca District Court today, which ordered their remand in custody for eight days. Larnaca CID is continuing its investigation.
