Universities across Cyprus are offering scholarships exclusively for diaspora and repatriated Cypriots as part of efforts to strengthen ties with young people living overseas.
Educational institutions including the University of Cyprus, Cyprus University of Technology and University of Nicosia are among those providing full and partial tuition scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The initiative was highlighted this week by the Cyprus Diaspora Federation, which encouraged overseas Cypriots to “invest in your education whilst connecting with your roots”.
A series of scholarship schemes have been made available through universities and colleges across the island, with some institutions offering full tuition coverage and internship opportunities.
Included in the opportunities listed are 10 full tuition scholarships at City Unity College Nicosia, three full postgraduate scholarships at the Cyprus University of Technology and full postgraduate scholarships plus paid internships at The Cyprus Institute.

Other universities, including the Open University of Cyprus, are also offering scholarships for Greek language courses aimed at diaspora students.
The scholarships are targeted at diaspora and repatriated Cypriots, with organisers presenting the schemes as an opportunity for younger generations living abroad to reconnect with Cyprus through education. The global Cypriot diaspora is estimated to be between 650,000 and 1,000,000 people, meaning there are more Cypriots living abroad than the island’s resident population.

Large Cypriot diaspora communities exist in countries including the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States, with many second and third-generation Cypriots maintaining cultural and family ties to the island.
Applications and deadlines vary between institutions.
