The Sovereign Base Areas administration has announced that the temporary ban on drones and the recommendation against paragliding have both been lifted, in line with measures taken by the Republic of Cyprus.
The restrictions followed a drone strike on RAF Akrotiri on March 1, when a drone hit the base following Israeli and US military action against Iran and subsequent counter-strikes. Other drones heading for the base were intercepted.
Cyprus imposed a nationwide ban on all civil drone operations on March 4, prohibiting flights across the entire territory of the Republic and within 12 nautical miles of the coastline.
The SBA thanked the public for their cooperation and patience during the restrictions.
