The woman known as Sandy completed a fresh round of testimony before investigators on Thursday, though the session was cut short for personal reasons and is expected to continue.
The 45-year-old gave her testimony in the presence of a psychologist, as in previous sessions, and was heard by the special unit for vulnerable persons.
The new testimony was deemed necessary to clarify specific issues that had arisen from the investigation and to examine in depth matters presented as facts by third parties, philenews reported earlier on Thursday.
Sandy is expected to return to investigators within the coming days to complete her testimony.
Sandy is the woman at the centre of allegations of sexual abuse and corruption made public by investigative journalist Makarios Drousiotis. Drousiotis alleged the existence of an organised network involving current and former officials, judges and political figures, with Sandy presented as a key witness. Former Supreme Court judge Michalakis Christodoulou has acknowledged knowing Sandy, saying he met her between 2020 and 2021, and denied all allegations of wrongdoing. Former Bar Association president Christos Clerides has confirmed he received material related to the case and urged a police complaint at the time, which was never filed. Sandy’s lawyer is Nikos Clerides, who has previously said she had been taken abroad for her protection. All those named in the Drousiotis allegations have rejected them. Police have described the case as serious and complex.
