A 24-year-old man is in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Nicosia General Hospital after falling from a refuse lorry last week while working on a rubbish collection route.
The accident is being investigated by both the Nicosia Traffic Police and the Department of Labour Inspection, philenews reported, as it has not yet been established whether it constitutes a road traffic incident, a workplace accident, or both.
Authorities are taking statements from the lorry driver and a second worker who was collecting rubbish alongside the 24-year-old. Police are also seeking information from any witnesses and are looking to obtain CCTV footage from the area.
The circumstances of the accident are still being established, according to sources.
The incident occurred on Thursday, April 23, on Austria Street in the direction of Kafkasou Street in Strovolos.
