Iran foreign minister leaves Pakistan before US delegation arrives

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Pakistan before the arrival of a US delegation, local media reported on Saturday.

The development followed an earlier statement by Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, who confirmed that the two delegations would not hold direct talks in Islamabad.

Israeli outlet Kan News reported, citing Pakistani sources, that the US delegation was expected to arrive on Saturday night.

It also became known that Tehran is refusing to talk to Washington until the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is lifted.

Kan News also reported that Pakistani mediators appeared pessimistic about the course of peace efforts.
