Warm midweek weather gives way to dust, rain and possible storms

Warm weather will continue through Thursday before dust, rain and possible storms affect Cyprus later in the week.

On Wednesday, periods of medium and high cloud are expected. Winds will be mainly north-easterly to south-easterly, and locally variable in the west, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight.

Temperatures will rise to around 27C inland and along the south-east coast, about 24C in the remaining coastal areas and around 21C in the higher mountains.

On Wednesday night, the weather will be mainly cloudy with medium and high cloud. Winds will be mainly north-westerly to north-easterly, light at 3 Beaufort and moderate at 4 Beaufort along the coast. The sea will be calm to slight, becoming slightly rough later in the east and locally in the north.

Thursday will be mostly clear, although periods of increased, mainly high, cloud are expected.

On Friday, the weather will turn mainly cloudy, with local rain possible, which may be accompanied by thunder.

On Saturday, local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected.

Dust is expected in the atmosphere from Thursday, with concentrations at times increasing.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Friday. On Saturday, they are expected to fall to slightly below the average climatic values for the season.
