A fresh twist has emerged in the ‘Sandy’ case after Makarios Drousiotis published audio files, additional material and the full text of his statement to police, alongside new allegations over how the authorities have handled the matter.
In a lengthy post, Drousiotis alleged a “cover-up of serious criminal offences” and directed criticism at the presidential palace, the Law Office and the police, claiming that instead of investigating the case, they were trying to cast doubt on the material he had made public.
Among other claims, he alleged that the key witness in the case was not protected but was instead led to retract her account, and said there was an attempt to present the messages at the centre of the case as fake.
He also referred to Europol’s involvement, while expressing reservations about its role in the process.
Drousiotis further referred to the possibility of criminal proceedings against him, claiming there was an effort to build a case for spreading false news and citing information suggesting he could face arrest.
At the same time, he insisted that all the material he had presented was authentic and the result of a long-running investigation which, he said, lasted about three years and included recorded conversations as well as messages.
He said some of those audio files had already been published, along with descriptions of events linked to the case, and called on the public to assess the material and draw its own conclusions.
The latest claims add to an already tense backdrop, with the ‘Santi’ case remaining under the spotlight as the authorities’ investigations continue.
Drousiotis also published the full text of his statement to the police.
In a separate social media post, he also shared an image of a text-message exchange, accompanied by a sharply worded comment on the latest developments.
Specifically, Drousiotis claimed that “this is the cause of the panic”, adding that the aim was “to destroy the evidence from ‘Sandy’s’ employment at the presidential palace”.
The messages he published do not clearly lead to the conclusion that ‘Sandy’ was in fact employed at the presidential palace, but rather that there had been some discussion on the issue between ‘Sandy’ and a second person.
They are, however, now part of the chain of material tied to the ongoing investigations in the ‘Sandy’ case, which remains at the centre of public attention.
