All four firefighting helicopters arrive in Paphos ahead of summer wildfire season

All four firefighting helicopters deployed to protect Cyprus during the summer fire season have arrived in Paphos, earlier than last year when the aircraft did not arrive until June.

The two Black Hawks landed at Paphos airport first, followed a few days later by two Sikorsky helicopters. The Black Hawks are fitted with large-capacity fixed water tanks, while the Sikorskys use transportable water buckets.

Crews have already begun intensive training on Cypriot procedures and conditions, and the aircraft are expected to be fully operational shortly.
