The total value of those permits rose 37.8% year-on-year, total area covered climbed 41.0%, and the number of residential units planned under the permits increased 42.7%.

December alone saw 819 permits issued, with a combined value of €415.4 million, a total area of 328,800 square metres, and plans for 1,770 residential units.

The Statistical Service reminded that from July 1, 2024, responsibility for issuing building permits passed from municipalities and district administrations to the newly established District Local Government Organisations (EOA), with licensing now processed through a new integrated information system called Hippodamos.
