10-metre python found in rubbish at Limassol waste plant

Workers at the Pentakomo waste management facility were confronted with a dead 10-metre python during manual sorting of rubbish in recent weeks, in an incident that left staff shocked.

The snake was found among waste moving along the sorting belt after ending up at the facility inside a black bag, according to sources.

The python was discovered by chance among waste selected for sorting. Only 5% of the rubbish reaching the Pentakomo plant undergoes sorting.

Pentakomo community leader Giorgos Oikonomou expressed concern about conditions at the facility and said waste management needed to improve immediately.

“God help us,” he said.

He also questioned how many similar incidents may end up at the Pentakomo plant without ever coming to public attention.
