A warning for very strong and at times near-gale southwesterly to westerly winds is in force in Cyprus from 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday, mainly affecting southern coastal areas and at times the north, the Meteorological Department said.
Winds are expected to reach force 6 and locally up to force 7 on the Beaufort scale, while the sea will be rough and at times choppy. Authorities have urged the public, particularly those working at sea, to exercise increased caution.
Low pressure is affecting the sea area of Cyprus, with weather expected to be mainly cloudy and with local showers or thunderstorms until Monday morning, according to the Meteorological Department.
The forecast covering the period from 06:00 on Sunday, March 29, to 06:00 on Monday, March 30, indicates that thin dust will be present in the atmosphere until midday. Visibility will generally be good but will be temporarily reduced during rainfall.
Sea temperature is estimated at 18 degrees Celsius.
