Police negotiators are currently locked in a standoff with an armed man holding two women at knife-point in central Larnaca.
The incident began around 3:30 pm on Wednesday at an apartment block. According to initial information from the police, a man wielding a knife has been seen shouting from a balcony and threatening the women inside the flat.
Officers have cordoned off the area and closed nearby roads to the public. Specialist police negotiators are on the scene attempting to manage the situation and de-escalate the tension.
Authorities said two women are currently inside the apartment as the standoff continues.
