Heavy rain and snow are disrupting traffic across Cyprus on Wednesday afternoon, with flooding reported on major motorways and dangerous conditions in the mountains.
Downpours hit Limassol and Paphos around 2:00 pm, causing water to build up on the Limassol-Paphos motorway. Police said the road is particularly slippery near Limassol, Pissouri, and Kouklia, as well as on the Limassol bypass.
Conditions are especially dangerous near the Agios Silas exit on the Limassol-Paphos motorway, where a stream has burst its banks. Flooding has affected both sides of the road, and visibility for drivers remains low due to the intensity of the rain.
In the Troodos mountains, heavy snow and thick fog have made roads treacherous. Police said routes from Troodos Square to the peak, and the Prodromos-Troodos road, are only open to four-wheel drive vehicles or those fitted with snow chains.
Drivers are urged to travel at low speeds, maintain safe distances from other vehicles, and keep their headlights on at all times.
