Kissonerga, long known for having 11 speed bumps along a single stretch of road just a few hundred metres long, is now seeing some of them removed after years of complaints from drivers
The Akamas municipality, which Kissonerga joined under the local government reform, has started removing four speed bumps on Christou Kkeli Avenue in cooperation with the relevant state services.
The move followed a study by the competent departments, which found that the four speed bumps were unnecessary.
The remaining speed bumps, including those outside schools and near side-road junctions, will stay in place.
According to Phileleftheros information, pressure from residents and local bodies for a wider reduction in the number of speed bumps is continuing, alongside proposals for alternative road safety measures.
