An elderly woman was taken to hospital after a fire broke out yesterday at a house in Kalopanayiotis.
The fire was reported at 4.46pm in an auxiliary kitchen in the outdoor area of the house. The kitchen suffered extensive damage.
A neighbour put out the fire before the Fire Service arrived by using a CO2 extinguisher.
The homeowner, an elderly woman, felt unwell due to panic and was taken as a precaution by ambulance to Kyperounta Hospital.
Four staffed fire engines from Evrychou and Lakatamia responded to the scene.
Initial findings showed that the fire appears to have been caused by a candle left burning.
