Two house fires due to electrical faults damage solar and EAC equipment

Two fires attributed to electrical faults broke out at residential properties in Limassol and Nicosia districts on Sunday, damaging EAC meters, electrical panels and photovoltaic inverters, the fire service said.

The first call came in at 14:35, reporting a fire at an EAC main meter and photovoltaic inverter at a home in Palodia. Two vehicles from the Agios Ioannis fire station responded, bringing the fire under control by 15:00. The electrical panel sustained extensive damage.

The second fire was reported at 15:16 at the exterior of a home in Kampia, again involving an EAC main meter and photovoltaic inverter.

Two vehicles from the Lakatamia fire station attended and had the blaze under control by 15:48. The EAC electrical panel was damaged by the fire and heat, and the photovoltaic inverter was also affected.

In both cases, the fire service attributed the cause to an electrical fault.
