A dead dolphin was found washed up on the beach along the Faros seafront promenade in Kato Paphos early on Friday morning by residents out for their morning walk and exercise.
Passers-by alerted the Police and the Fisheries Department, both of which sent officers to the scene. Fisheries Department officials took samples from the carcass for laboratory analysis to establish the cause of death.
Once the on-site sampling and police examination were complete, the dolphin was removed from the shore and taken to a designated facility in line with protocols for such cases.
