Heavy rain, hail and gusty winds: Saturday storm warning in force across Cyprus

The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for storms on Saturday, with heavy rain, possible hail and strong winds forecast to affect the island periodically from morning until late at night.

The warning is in force from 11:00 to 23:00 on Saturday 20 March. Isolated intense storms are expected to affect mainly western and southern areas, with hail possible during the most severe spells. Winds will be variable and will strengthen during the storms.

Rainfall intensity is expected to be particularly high in localised areas, reaching between 35 and 55 millimetres per hour — a level that could cause problems in vulnerable areas. Authorities are urging the public to exercise particular caution.
