Man arrested after stabbings at Larnaca apartment block

A 23-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Thursday in connection with a stabbing incident at a Larnaca apartment block the previous evening, police said.

Three men — aged 36, 30 and 25 — reported to police that at around 8.50 pm on Wednesday they had got into an argument with the 23-year-old inside the building.

The suspect allegedly called friends to the scene, who then attacked the group, stabbing the 25-year-old and the 30-year-old with a sharp object.

Both injured men were taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital. The 25-year-old was found to have slash wounds to his back as well as other injuries; the 30-year-old had a slash wound to his hand. Both were treated and discharged.

Officers who attended the scene arrested the 23-year-old to assist with the investigation into suspected conspiracy to commit a felony, assault causing grievous bodily harm, wounding and related offences, as well as carrying a bladed weapon.

The suspect is due to appear before Larnaca District Court today for a remand hearing. Larnaca’s Crime Investigation Department is continuing its inquiries.
