Police arrest two more suspects over Agia Fyla house attack

Police have arrested two more suspects, aged 20 and 18, over the clash in the Agia Fyla area of Limassol on Friday night, authorities said.

A 20-year-old had already been arrested on Saturday morning in connection with the same case and remains in six-day detention, according to police.

Police said they received information at around 9.35 pm on Friday about an incident outside a house in the area. A patrol supervisor and members of Limassol CID went to the scene for inquiries.

Preliminary examinations showed that a group of young men – about seven people wearing hoods and carrying weapons – allegedly forced their way into a house where foreign nationals live and tried to attack them.

The occupants reacted by pushing the group out of the house and restraining one of the people allegedly involved in the incident.

During an attempt to get back into the house, the group damaged two windows of the property, police said.

Before the police arrived at the scene, the remaining suspects ran away.

Police then obtained an arrest warrant for a 20-year-old from Nicosia, who was arrested and taken into custody to help with the investigation. A court later ordered that he be held for six days.

Police inquiries are continuing to identify the remaining people allegedly involved in the incident.
