The European Commission announced on Thursday that it has disbursed €21.2 million to Cyprus as the fifth payment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). This payment aims to support the country’s economic recovery and resilience following the pandemic.
The RRF is central to the EU’s NextGenerationEU programme, designed to bolster economic growth and competitiveness across member states.
According to the Commission, the funds are linked to reforms and investments in areas such as public administration, justice, transport, tourism, education, healthcare, and energy-efficient renovations.
Cyprus submitted its fifth payment request in August 2025, seeking €70.5 million under the RRF. The request includes 19 milestones and targets across eight reforms and 11 investments.
The Commission partially approved Cyprus’s fifth payment request in December 2025, noting that the country must first meet an outstanding milestone related to green tax reform (Milestone 19). The Commission will assess the disbursement of the remaining amount once Cyprus completes this requirement.
Cyprus’ Recovery and Resilience Plan is supported by a total of €1.02 billion in grants.
