The Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer HMS Dragon has left Portsmouth Harbour bound for the Eastern Mediterranean, where it is tasked with protecting UK military bases in Cyprus amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, following a drone strike to the RAF Akrotiri base, according to the BBC.
The warship departed on Tuesday afternoon, guided by tugs as it manoeuvred out of the harbour before sailing past the Round Tower and into the Solent.
It is expected to pass the Isle of Wight before heading south through the Bay of Biscay, rounding the Iberian peninsula and into the Mediterranean.
