Thirteen people were injured — ten of them schoolchildren — after a school minibus collided with a private car on the Agios Epifanios–Palaichori road, with all injured taken to Nicosia General Hospital by ambulance.
The three adults injured in the crash were the minibus driver and the two occupants of the other vehicle. The condition of the pupils was not believed to be serious, according to initial assessments at the scene.
Charalampos Charilaou, the spokesman for the state health services organisation (SHSO), visited the injured at hospital and said all those involved in the crash were receiving appropriate medical care at the paediatric and adult accident and emergency departments of Nicosia General Hospital.
The Health and Education ministers also visited the hospital.
Both lanes of the Agios Epifanios–Palaichori road, which had been closed following the collision, have since reopened and traffic is flowing normally.
