Fire between Omodos and Mandria under full control

A fire that broke out Sunday morning in an area between the communities of Omodos and Mandria has been brought under full control following a swift mobilization of the authorities.

The blaze scorched approximately three hectares of wild vegetation in the Asprovouni area of Omodos. Preliminary reports indicate the fire started near an agricultural road in the vicinity of an abandoned livestock pen.

Emergency Response

The Fire Service responded to the scene at approximately 09:30 with four fire engines from Limassol rural stations. They were subsequently reinforced by two additional vehicles from the Department of Forests. Firefighting efforts were complicated by strong winds blowing in the area at the time.

The Cyprus Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
