Diving instructor dies during training in Zenobia wreck off Larnaca

A diving instructor died on Saturday morning whilst conducting a dive with two trainees at the Zenobia wreck off Larnaca.

The Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Centre received information at 9.40am on 7 March 2026 about a diver in danger in the sea area of the Zenobia wreck.

A speedboat from the Port and Marine Police and an ambulance from the State Health Services Organisation ambulance service were mobilised for the operation.

The Greek Cypriot man was picked up by the Port and Marine Police boat, handed over to an ambulance and then transported to Larnaca General Hospital, where his death was confirmed.

According to sources, he was a diving instructor who was conducting a dive with two trainees. At some point, the trainees realised something was wrong, surfaced from the sea and called the authorities for help.
