Flight connectivity partially recovers as major airlines resume Cyprus schedules

Flight connectivity to Cyprus is showing strong signs of recovery as major international airlines resume schedules that were temporarily disrupted by the US-led war against Iran.

According to Hermes Airports, 109 flights are expected to operate across Larnaca and Paphos airports today, Friday, March 6. While 38 cancellations remain—34 in Larnaca and 4 in Paphos—these figures represent a significant decrease compared to previous days. Hermes noted that current cancellations primarily affect Middle Eastern destinations where regional traffic remains restricted.

The recovery is bolstered by easyJet’s decision to resume flights from London to both Larnaca and Paphos, as well as service between Berlin and Larnaca. The airline plans to restore its full schedule in the coming days, including routes to Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Amsterdam, and Basel.

This follows the return of British Airways earlier this week, while the Lufthansa Group—including Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, and Edelweiss Air—is set to resume its full flight programme starting Saturday, March 7.

Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development and Communication at Hermes Airports, said the trend sends a “strong positive message of confidence” in Cyprus as a destination. She urged stakeholders to remain calm regarding the upcoming tourist season.

“There is still time, and the decisive factor for the course of tourism will be maintaining flight programmes as they were planned before the start of the war,” Kouroupi said. She called on tourism bodies to work together to reassure the travelling public and tour operators by promoting a positive image of the country.

Hermes Airports confirmed that direct connectivity remains available to a wide range of countries, including the UK, Greece, Germany, Poland, and France. Passengers are advised to check airline websites or contact travel agents for specific booking information.
