Fire breaks out in Limassol home due to extension cord, no injuries reported

Between 06:00 on March 4 and 06:00 on March 5, 2026, the Cyprus Fire Department responded to 31 calls for assistance, 21 of which were for fires, 8 for special services, and 2 were false alarms.

At 21:16, a fire was reported in a house in Pano Polemidia, Limassol. The Fire Station at Saint John, led by Lieutenant Vasilis Krokos, responded with two fire trucks, and the fire was brought under control by 22:13.

The fire broke out in a bedroom, where extensive damage occurred to the contents, and part of the electrical installation, furniture, and wall paint were also affected.

Fortunately, the residents detected the fire early and evacuated the house safely, with no injuries reported.

The Fire Department confirmed that the cause of the fire was an electrical issue with an extension cord plugged into a power outlet.
