Sunny spells and scattered showers this weekend with snow possible on mountains

Saturday will be mainly clear but with periodic cloud build-up and the possibility of isolated showers, particularly in the western and southern parts of the island.

Sleet or snow cannot be ruled out on higher ground. Winds will blow mainly from the north-west to north-east at force 3 to 4, and the sea will be slight to moderate.

Temperatures will reach 14°C inland, around 17°C on the coast and 4°C on the highest mountain peaks.

Sunday will bring similar conditions — largely clear with intervals of increased cloud and the chance of isolated showers, while sleet or snow remains possible in the mountains. Monday will be locally partly cloudy, clearing to mainly sunny skies on Tuesday.

Temperatures will remain at similar levels on Sunday and Monday, below seasonal averages, before a rise is expected on Tuesday.
