Man arrested after partner shot with hunting rifle in Limassol

A 26-year-old man was arrested in Limassol on Tuesday after his partner was shot in the leg when a hunting rifle discharged while the couple were cleaning it.

Police received a report of a shooting at an outbuilding in Limassol at around 6.20pm. The property is the residence of the 26-year-old man and his 25-year-old partner.

According to evidence under examination, the couple were maintaining the woman’s hunting rifle when it discharged under circumstances still being investigated, striking her in the leg.

She was taken by ambulance to a private hospital in Limassol and subsequently transferred to a private hospital in Nicosia, where she was admitted for treatment.

The 26-year-old was arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody.
