An unstable air mass is moving across Cyprus, with a colder front expected to reach the island on Thursday.
Tuesday will remain mostly clear, though clouds will build up in the afternoon. Isolated showers are possible, primarily in the mountains. Winds will blow from the southwest and northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, reaching 5 Beaufort on the southern coast. Temperatures will rise to 19°C inland and along the coast, and 9°C in the higher mountains.
Cloud cover will increase on Wednesday, bringing local rain to the western half of the island until early Thursday morning. Throughout the rest of Thursday and Friday, isolated showers may occur in the mountains and inland.
Forecasters expect sleet or snow on the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains.
While temperatures will remain steady on Wednesday, they will drop significantly on Thursday and stay below average through Friday.
The snow depth at Chionistra was recorded at 1 centimetre at the time of the weather bulletin.
