700 drones light up sky as Limassol Carnival draws to a close

The Limassol Carnival drew to a close on Sunday night with a high-tech spectacle that lit up the city sky for hundreds of spectators.

Crowds gathered at the Limassol Old Port early in the evening for the traditional carnival dance, which began at 21:00 to mark the end of the festivities. The event included a competition for the best “crazy mask” and “clever mask,” with the three top costumes receiving awards.

The night reached its peak when 700 drones took to the air, creating patterns and images over the city. The display was visible from various parts of Limassol, with onlookers filming the performance on their mobile phones.
