Three Nicosia-area municipalities have cancelled all planned Carnival and Clean Monday celebrations this weekend due to forecast unstable weather conditions.
The municipalities of Lakatamia, Latsia-Geri and South Nicosia-Idalio announced on Friday that events scheduled for 22 and 23 February 2026 will not go ahead. The cancellations cover four venues: the Carnival event at Lakatamia’s 5th Primary School, the event at Lakatamia Linear Park, the event at Lourka Forest in Latsia-Geri, and the event at “Paradissia” in South Nicosia-Idalio.
The three municipalities said the decision was taken primarily on safety grounds and wished the public a good Lent.
