Rain, isolated thunderstorms and snow in the higher mountains are forecast for Wednesday, with conditions expected to improve gradually from early afternoon.
The weather will be mainly cloudy, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snow is expected in the highest mountainous areas.
Winds will blow mainly south-westerly to westerly, strong to very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort and locally very strong to near gale force at 6 to 7 Beaufort. The sea will be rough, soon becoming very rough and locally on windward coasts up to stormy.
Temperatures will rise to around 18C inland and along the coast, and to 6C in the higher mountains.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, periods of locally increased cloud cover are expected.
Temperatures will remain close to average seasonal levels until Friday, before rising on Saturday.
