Cyprus considers sending investigators to Moscow to question wanted influencer Annie Alexui

Cyprus is considering sending a two-member team to Moscow to question 43-year-old Ioanna Fotiou, known on social media as Annie Alexui, who remains wanted under international and European arrest warrants, according to information obtained by philenews.

Authorities are weighing the move to avoid directly involving the police, as Fotiou is still subject to arrest warrants issued over complaints of spreading false news. Sources said Justice Minister Costas Fytiris is in contact with the foreign ministry and the Law Office over the matter.

Officials said any claims made by the 43-year-old would be examined, but discussions are ongoing about how to formally record her statements. The prevailing scenario involves sending a criminal investigator appointed by the Attorney General, along with an official from the justice ministry, to Moscow.

The move would allow authorities to gather information without exposing the police, given that arrest warrants have already been issued and Fotiou has repeatedly said she does not trust the police, particularly in Paphos.

According to the same information, preparations are under way to appoint a former legal professional as criminal investigator. The team would travel to Moscow once Russian authorities grant permission. Diplomatic contacts are ongoing and a request has already been sent to the Russian authorities to clarify Fotiou’s residency status, including whether she has been granted asylum and whether investigators may meet her officially.

The Law Office said it is evaluating statements made by Fotiou in various online videos in coordination with the justice ministry and the police. The foreign ministry has also become involved in the process.

Further developments are expected in the coming days, with decisions likely next week. The justice minister has indicated readiness to examine all claims made by the 43-year-old to determine what evidence she holds and whether it can be used as testimony.
