Dozens gathered in the square outside Paphos Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the Lunar New Year, marking the occasion despite light rain falling over the city.
Chinese residents of Paphos were joined by compatriots from other districts who travelled to the city for the festivities, taking part in cultural events held in front of the municipal building.
Municipal councillor Alexandros Jiang welcomed the community and praised the strong cooperation and ties between Chinese residents, Cypriot citizens and local authorities.
The event also attracted many Cypriot residents and foreign tourists, who watched the celebrations unfold in the city centre.
A highlight of the afternoon was a live demonstration by Chinese robot developers and programmers. Robots performed choreographed martial arts routines in a display of advanced technology, and in one segment appeared alongside martial arts athletes in a staged demonstration.
