Cyprus authorities are in contact with other countries as part of an investigation into wanted social media figure Annie Alexui, government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Monday.
Speaking to state radio, Letymbiotis said the government has no official information to confirm whether Annie is currently in Russia under a protection status.
Annie, whose real name is Ioanna Fotiou, says that she was granted political asylum in Russia in September 2025.
The 43-year-old Paphos native is currently the subject of 13 arrest warrants related to allegations of personal data violations, spreading fake news, and harassment.
She has continued to broadcast allegations of institutional corruption and misconduct via social media from abroad.
Letymbiotis confirmed that international procedures are underway and that Cypriot officials are communicating with foreign authorities regarding the case.
However, the spokesperson declined to provide further details on the nature of these contacts or the progress of the investigation.
