President Nikos Christodoulides will deliver the annual “state of the union” address for 2026 at 7 pm tonight in a televised and online address.
The president announced the speech on social media, noting that the annual programme presentation was an innovation introduced with his election as part of his commitment to full transparency and accountability.
“It is with a sense of responsibility and particular respect that I will address you all again this year. Thursday, 5 February, at 7 pm, live on CyBC1. Together, we continue to change Cyprus,” he wrote.
The announcement follows a special Cabinet session last month on the implementation of the 2025 programme.
Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki said at the time that 67% of the actions announced by the president for 2025 had been implemented or were in final stages and expected to complete within the coming weeks.
She said 47 of 88 flagship actions had been fully completed, whilst another 12 were expected to finish in the coming weeks, bringing the completion rate to 67%. Completed actions included tax reform, teacher evaluation reform, and progress on digital transition.
The president will conduct an overall governance assessment in March, according to Piki.
