A moped rider has died from injuries sustained when he lost control and crashed into a wall in Avgorou three weeks ago.
Panagiotis Theofanous, 64, from Avgorou, died today at Nicosia General Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment since the collision.
The crash happened on the afternoon of 16 January 2026 in Avgorou. According to evidence under examination, Theofanous was riding a moped when he lost control under circumstances being investigated and crashed into the wall of an adjacent residence.
He was taken by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital, where doctors found he had internal bleeding and a craniocerebral injury. Because of his condition, he was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital for further treatment.
Famagusta Traffic Police continue their investigation.
