Power supply restored in Nicosia, EAC urges residents to limit usage

Power outages affected several areas of Nicosia on Friday due to a technical fault in the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) distribution system, according to a statement.

While power has been restored to these areas via alternative supply sources, the EAC has called on residents to limit energy consumption to essential needs only, due to the low temperatures and high demand for electricity. The request remains in effect from the immediate hours until midnight tonight.

EAC teams are working tirelessly to fully restore the supply and repair the fault, the statement added.

The affected areas include Engomi, Ayios Dometios, Archangelos, Acropolis, parts of Strovolos, and Lakatamia.

It was also noted that a separate fault occurred on Tseriou Avenue, where a contractor severed an EAC cable.
