Kurds and Cypriots took to the streets in the rain at midday to protest jihadist Damascus regime attacks on northeastern Syria, marching from the Interior Ministry to the House of Representatives via the House of Europe on Vyronos Avenue.

A Kurdish delegation led by Yassin Tarbous, president of the Democratic Union Party’s (PYD) local committee, was received at the House of Europe.

Protesters are demanding not only international condemnation of crimes committed by al-Jolani regime militias in northeastern Syria, but a halt to bloodshed by the Syrian Transitional Government.

Chanting “Woman, life, freedom”, “Terrorist Jolani”, “Terrorist Erdogan” and “Long live Rojava’s freedom”, protesters sent a message of resistance, calling on Cyprus at institutional and social levels to condemn ongoing war crimes against the Kurdish people.

From Cyprus’s political parties, only the Movement of Ecologists – Citizens’ Cooperation attended the demonstration, witha solidarity banner for Rojava and Kurdistan.
