Dog dies in Limassol house fire caused by electrical fault

A dog died in a house fire in Limassol on Wednesday afternoon after an electrical fault in the heating system sparked a blaze in the kitchen.

The Fire Service responded to the incident in Agios Tychonas at 3:04 pm, according to the service’s spokesperson. The fire started in an electrical panel for the home’s heating system inside the kitchen.

The fire put itself out but caused extensive damage to the kitchen counters. Firefighters found the dog dead inside the house.

Smoke and heat damaged paintwork throughout the first floor and ground floor.

One fire engine attended the scene. Investigators determined the cause was an electrical problem.
