Cold snap persists across Cyprus with sleet forecast for mountains

The cold weather across Cyprus is set to continue this week, with temperatures expected to remain significantly below the seasonal average.

According to the latest forecast, Monday will be primarily clear, though intermittent cloud cover could bring isolated light rain or sleet to mountainous regions.

Winds will prevail from the north-east to south-east at speeds of three to four Beaufort, occasionally reaching five Beaufort in windward areas, leaving the sea slight to moderate.

Daytime highs on Monday are expected to reach 11 degrees Celsius inland and approximately 14 degrees along the coast. In the higher peaks of the Troodos mountains, the temperature is forecast to climb to just one degree, with frost expected to persist throughout the day.

The cold spell is set to continue into Tuesday with mostly clear skies and temperatures holding steady at below-average levels. However, a shift in conditions is anticipated by Wednesday and Thursday, as the island experiences periods of increased middle and high-level cloud cover.

Meteorologists predict a gradual rise in temperature during the second half of the week.
