President pledges immediate deportations following Larnaca violence

President Nikos Christodoulides branded the recent outbreaks of violence in Larnaca “unacceptable” on Sunday, vowing to implement drastic measures to restore order.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a national memorial service in Episkopeio, the President confirmed he has remained in constant contact with the Justice Minister since Saturday night. Refusing to sugarcoat the severity of the situation, he insisted that police are already moving to arrest every individual involved in the disturbances.

The President issued a warning that any foreign nationals implicated in the unrest face immediate arrest and deportation.

He clarified that such individuals will be placed on a permanent “stop list” to block any future re-entry into the country.

Regarding the involvement of Cypriot citizens, the President called for “exemplary punishment,” stating that the footage circulating of the incidents is nothing short of disgraceful.
