UK warns of heightened regional tension risk in latest Cyprus travel advice

Britain has warned of heightened regional tension in its latest travel advice for Cyprus. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office updated its Cyprus travel guidance on 14 January, cautioning that escalation could lead to travel disruption and other unanticipated impacts.

The warning comes as Iran faces a deadly crackdown on demonstrations that began in late December 2025, and the US and Israel have claimed possible intervention.

On January 7, Australia issued an emergency directive for all its citizens remaining in Iran to leave immediately, warning that a rapidly deteriorating security environment has pushed the nation to a breaking point.
